Maintain Momentum on Your Research (even in the summer) ☀️
Your work matters. So does your energy.
Whether you're mid-way through a big research project, wrapping up a term, or somewhere in between - this time of year often brings a shift in our routine. Maybe you've just finished teaching. Maybe you're navigating new energy levels, responsibilities, or a new location. These changes can bring up a lot of different emotions - it's normal to feel both hopeful and also a little bit unmoored.
That's why this month at PhDone, we're focusing on maintaining your momentum.
This isn't a push to do more - it's an invitation to move forward with intention and care.
Here's what we've been reminding our PhDone community:
👉 Momentum doesn't mean constant productivity.
👉 It can mean pausing, reflecting, and returning.
👉 It means reconnecting with your 'why' - your spark that first motivated you to start your research.
👉 It means building in rest along the way.
Making sustainable progress and maintaining your momentum isn't about always feeling inspired. It's about showing up as you are, taking small steps, and making space for the shifts, exciting tangents, and restorative returns. Whether you're working on a chapter, refining your research questions, or just trying to stay connected to your project - there's no 'right' pace. There's just the next kind step you can take.
So, if you need a reset 😌:
Take five minutes to reconnect with your research 'why.'
Choose one task to move yourself forward.
Make time for some rest; not as a reward but, rather, as part of your process.
Wherever you're at in your journey right now: you're not behind, and you're not alone.
