So much more than study sessions
One of our community members posted today that they have hosted 100+ sessions within Accepted Society and it got me thinking about all of the brilliant ways our community members show up for one another and hold space for themselves to explore their studies, research interests, hobbies, and personal development.
Accepted Society may have started as a platform for academic coworking but it is so much more than that now! As a community of over 500+ students, independent researchers, educators, and life-long learners from all over the world, we have the opportunity to build a community which celebrates our whole selves โ not just our academic work and output.
Accepted Society is a community in pursuit of knowledge and is actively trying to create opportunities for community-led connection and education. Here are some of the ways we do that:
The Accepted Community
Accepted Academy - Community Member-led skills lectures and workshops covering everything from how to write an abstract, how to apply for grant funding, how to use obsidian to your notes, etc. This is what we mean when we say we promote and highlight โCommunity-Centered Education
The Common Room - A space to kick back and enjoy the company of likeminded academics, students, researchers, and lifelong learners. The Common Room is a community led space where our members host challenges, intellectual Salons, support groups, and casual power point presentation nights.
Scholar Led Study - We all wish we could spend our days surrounded by our friends in a beautiful libraries, working on what we love most. However, many of us work full time, are returning to school for a part time program, struggle to connect with members of our cohort, or have disabilities which prevent us from experiencing this โacademic environmentโ and so we created it online. These community led study sessions run around the clock, led by members from all around the world, working and studying when best suits them. Don't see a session posted? Use the Accepted Zoom account to lead your own. We are certain someone will jump on to keep you company
Writer's Corner - These AS Team led writing sessions are dedicated to words on the page. Meeting Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays at 5pm BST, we will work together to reach our writing goals (all while receiving some gentle reminders to take a break, grab some water, and have a stretch).
